Channing Tatum has become one of the most well known actors of our generation and has made a good life despite the odds against him. Tatum grew up with ADHD and Dyslexia, struggling to pass his classes.
Tatum mentioned that he would be put in classes with kids like himself and knew that is where he was stuck or he would be put in classes with regular kids and knew that he was different. “It kills me that there are standardized tests geared towards just one kind of child,” he has told interviewers.
Reading has never been easy for Tatum, and as an actor it can be difficult to keep up with all the other actors who can read and learn their lines so much faster than him. For Tatum though, he will read the script five times slower than anyone else but he will be able to tell anyone everything that is in the script.
Tatum has become extremely successful despite struggling in school. He has become an incredible actor over the years, and has even adopted sculpting as a past-time. He has also made some rules on how any of his children will be educated. He says that he will never have his kids on medication for learning disabilities unless it is absolutely necessary.
Though Tatum struggled in the classroom he didn’t let that stop him from becoming whatever he wanted to be. School doesn’t define who we are or who our kids will become. We can make a better life for ourselves even if we struggle with school. Tatum is a perfect example of that.
